Network of Staff and Teachers in childcare services

The project seeks to establish a network in Early Childhood Education and Care staff development: it will contribute to overcome local visions, by creating links between institutions/practitioners/professionals, and by collecting learning resources in ECEC, making them available for a larger audience. It will provide policy makers with updated information and comparisons of data.

The state of the art in staff development in Early Childhood Education and Care is related to the fragmented situation of systems and provisions across EU: a common vision for childcare services is currently lacking in Europe; just as levels of investment differ greatly between Member States, picture also varies significantly in relation to childcare workforce. Childcare workers are qualified in all aspects of ECEC in some country (must hold a degree and be involved in continuous training), where in other countries they don’t have formal education path and recognized professional profile. Given the varied background of EU, there are no common recommendations/curricula, and national/regional level have very little possibilities of sharing. For this reason, the project seeks to establish a network in ECEC staff development: it will contribute to overcome local visions, by creating links between institutions/practitioners/professionals, and by collecting learning resources in ECEC, making them available for a larger audience. It will provide policy makers with updated information and comparisons of data.

The project aims at build a network able:

  • to establish working groups in ECEC topics and issues, especially curriculum development
  • to set up an online-based pool of learning resources, information and sharing for ECEC workforce and institutions at all levels in EU
  • to build community, promote peer learning and support among ECEC staff
  • to support and enlarge the community, through dissemination and exploitation of results
  • to establish an effective system for monitoring and evaluate the network

The impact is envisaged at 3 levels: ECEC workforce, engaged in EU community of practice, with opportunities of exchange, peer learning, access to learning resources; Researchers in the field of curriculum development, to define a potential EU-ECEC curriculum; Policy makers, to raise awareness and point out the need to work toward a common vision and provision for ECEC.

Final Call for Abstracts for END 2014 Conference

The International Conference on Education and New Developments (END 2014) has issued a final call for abstracts, extending the deadline to 12 May 2014. 

Authors are encouraged to submit abstracts for the following types of contributions: 
 
  • Oral Presentations
  • Posters
  • Workshop
  • Company Presentation
  • Virtual Presentations
 
The topics for the papers can fall into a number of categories, including: teachers and students, projects and trends, teaching and learning, and organizational issues. The papers must report original, previously unpublished findings from the field.

International Conference on Education and New Developments

The International Conference on Education and New Developments (END 2014) offers a worldwide connection between teachers, students, researchers and lecturers, from a wide range of academic fields, interested in exploring and giving their contribution in educational issues. 

END 2014 will feature presentations from diverse countries and cultures on research related to the following themes:

  • Projects and Trends
  • Teaching and Learning
  • Organizational Issues

 

The conference's keynote speaker will be Professor Hanna David of Tel Aviv University (Emerita), Israel. Professor David will speak about the social and educational difficulties the gifted child has to deal with in the regular as well as in the gifted classroom and present techniques which might help overcoming them.

ICT And E-skills for Social Care

On 26 February 2014 in Brussels an international conference will be organised to share the lessons learned, collaborate with related initiatives, and establish further use of the results of CareNET project. 

The CareNET project is about building ICT competencies in the long-term care sector to enhance quality of life for older people and those at risk of exclusion. We invite practitioners, organisations and researchers to join the consortium in discussing what ways open up for the care-sector in the brave new world of digital inclusion.

 

The Conference will open with high profile keynote speakers from all around Europe elaborating on ICT skills in social care. Following the presentation of the CareNET project, participants will have the opportunity to learn about the CareNET national cases including a showcase summary. To support networking and to create a possibility for other initiatives to collaborate, the CareNET showcase will be followed by presentations and demonstrations of other similar initiatives’ results. Coffee breaks and a buffet lunch will be provided.

 

Registration and participation at the conference is free of charge. Only participants who registered via the online form may participate. Registration closes on 17 February. Registration is required for the on-site conference and for the online streaming as well. Please fill in the online registration form.

 

How to contribute?

 

You may submit presentation of projects, research in progress reports and research results (10 min presentation) or demonstration of tools ( demonstration) in the following topics:

 

  • the identified needs for professionalization of care workers;
  • increased access to learning opportunities in the care sector;
  • personal development of care workers;
  • overcoming the isolation of older people;
  • active ageing.

 

Submissions should be emailed to Laure Lhermet of IPERIA, by 10 February 2014. 

 

Selected submissions will be invited to participate and present at the event and will be published online.
