Mr. Matti Sinko works currently as a development expert in Helsinki University of Technology (TKK) in its Lifelong Learning Institute Dipoli (TKK Dipoli). He has over 30 years of professional experience in education, mainly enhancing the use of ICTs in education. In addition to Europe, he has worked in Africa for inter-governmental and non-governmental organisations. He is a continuing education specialist, developer and designer of digital learning resources. He has also participated in educational ICT policy making both as a civil servant and as a consultant. He has also experience in evaluating the use and impact of ICTs in education.
This article is an attempt to describe and analyse the pivotal and dynamic role of learning in shaping up and fuelling the metamorphosis of current post-industrial societies and economies into true knowledge economies and innovation societies.
