INTENSE - International entrepreneurship skills Europe

INTENSE – International Entrepreneurship Skills Europe is a transnational project among five European Higher Education Institutions (HEI) funded by the EU programme Erasmus+ that runs from September 2016 to September 2019.

INTENSE aims to promote the collaboration and innovative practices between Higher Education Institutions (HEI) and European small and medium-sized enterprises (SME) in order to stimulate entrepreneurial behaviour as well as innovation and internationalisation skills of students, HEI staff, and SMEs. It focuses on developing and implementing a teaching module on the topic of internationalisation of SMEs for HEI students and an SME toolkit. In the course of the project mixed teams of students, SMEs and HEI staff from five EU countries work together to support SMEs with entering foreign markets and raise awareness for the importance of internationalisation in globalised work and learning environments.

INTENSE objectives:

  • Promoting the internationalisation and the international competitiveness of SMEs and Higher Education Institutions (HEI) by 2019
  • Enhancing the employability of students and HEI staff by fostering entrepreneurial, intercultural and innovation skills
  • Fostering the collaboration between SMEs, HEIs and further stakeholders, i.e. business associations and policy institutions
  • Advancing interactive, transnational teaching methods in the fields of entrepreneurship education, innovation pedagogy and internationalisation

INTENSE project components:

  • Establishing collaborations between Higher Education Institutes (HEI) and European Small and Medium Sized Enterprises (SMEs)
  • Developing and implementing an innovative transnational teaching module on the topic of internationalisation of SMEs in Europe
  • Implementing international staff trainings, face-to-face trainings for students and multiplier events to disseminate project outputs
  • Providing cross-border support to SMEs through student consultancies and an SME toolkit
  • Producing and disseminating recommendations for policy-makers and stakeholders

INTENSE outcomes:

  • SMEs receive tailor-made advice on internationalisation and establish contacts with well-trained potential employees
  • Students & staff increase their entrepreneurship, innovation and intercultural competences and gain work experience
  • SMEs, multipliers and further HEIs make of use INTENSE materials, i.e. SME Toolkit, teaching modules, policy recommendations
  • INTENSE establishes a network among HEIs, SMEs, business associations, institutions and further stakeholders
  • INTENSE promotes the topic of internationalisation of SMEs and HEIs at the national and European level
