e-learning/m-learning pan-european platform

How would you respond to the creation of a Europe-wide learning platform (eg. using moodle) open for schools and teachers to host their classes, a huge databank of lesson plans/learning objectives/curricular subjects? it would also serve as a centralised meeting place for the exchange of ideas, knowledge and experiences amongst teachers and students. it could accommodate different levels of education including primary and eventually serve as a functional teacher professional development alternative free of charge for teacher certification and mobility through out the continent.

There is so much diversity within Europe that I don't know if the database of lesson plans and learning objectives would work (I am a Portuguese history teacher and have several books with lessons ideas that I bought just out of curiosity but I don't use because the perspective on the subjects is very different, even when we are teaching the same thing like, for example, the French Revolution). But I like the idea of a centralized meeting place for the exchange of ideas, knowledge, and experiences amongst teachers and students.

I think it will be very useful to have a common and shared " space " to help teachers create their lessons . In my opinion the strongest and most beneficial effect coul be to star thinking as EUROPEAN teachers and not regional or national . A new approach to teaching young generation a shared vision of Europe .

This is all wonderful, but I wonder how long it would take for such a platform to be operational ??? Let us focus on creating and making such opportunities functional, as we already have lots of problems to deal with in education, and in the meantime, students build real doubt on the benefits of education as a whole, and start losing direction in this intricate labyrinth of how to/what to/ how much should/ etc., etc. Of course, all these are part of my personal opinion.
