Creative Commons has published its annual report, this year titled "The Future is Open." It includes an explanation of the latest version of the licenses and updates on the work of CC affiliates around the world. 


Creative Commons (CC) is the organisation that created and manages the open licenses of the same name. The Future is Open reports on the main activities of the organisation and its affiliates, including topics such as:


  • The new 4.0 set of CC licenses
  • The community-building work of the CC affiliates around the world
  • The organisation's work in open policy and support for global copyright reform
  • Examples of how CC license are being used in various contexts


The report is dedicated to Bassel Khartabil, the Syrian CC community leader who has been imprisoned since 2012.
