The European Parliament has published the study “Adult Education and Open Educational Resources”, highlighting the possibilities offered by the employment of OER within adult learning.
The study reviews the current use of Open Educational Resources in adult education across Europe and some non-EU countries, assesses its potential and makes recommendations for policy interventions. Among other recommendations, the study advices Member States to implement online initial and continuous professional development programmes for teachers, trainers and lecturers, focussing on online learning and IPR. It also stresses that Member States should promote the availability and accessibility of open resources for adult learners, and that specific funding should be devoted to building OER material in key topic areas of interest to adults.
